Car expert urges drivers to consider sports car that offers ‘a taste of supercar ownership at a fraction of the price’
A PETROLHEAD has urged drivers to keep an eye out for a seldom seen sports car that offers “a taste of supercar ownership at a fraction of the price.”
YouTube star Jonny Brighton of CarsWithJB has picked out a super cool American icon that oozes style and will certainly turn heads… if you’re able to get your hands on one.
Car expert Jonny has picked out another head-turning motor[/caption] The iconic American motor is sadly seldom seen in the UK[/caption]For American car fans, the Chevrolet Corvette C6 isn’t particularly groundbreaking – but in the UK they’re rarely spotted on the roads.
In fact, as Jonny said: “It was never officially sold here by Chevrolet, hence you can only get into left-hand drive examples – unless you find a company to convert it to right-and drive.”
However, the mid-2000s sports car might be worth sniffing out as it offers plenty of bang for your buck, boasting a large 6.2-litre V8 motor that produces 430 bhp, taking it to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds.
Buying a used car online: Five top tips
- Try to source vehicles through reliable second-hand sites
- Shop around to get the best deals
- Ask to view the car before any money is transferred – even better if you can get a test drive
- Check the car’s MOT history with the DVSA- this can be done online using the registration
- Get a vehicle history check to see if it’s ever been written off or reported stolen – these can be purchased for as little as £9.99
Jonny added: “This is the sixth generation Corvette, coming from a long line of pretty amazing American sports cars that offer you a slight taste of supercar ownership for a fraction of the price.”
He later added: “The reason you have one of these in the UK is because you want something different, or you’re super into American muscle as it’s obviously more muscle than it is supercar.”
For UK motorheads, the beastly two-seater is ideal if you’re after something a bit different for a fairly reasonable price – with Jonny revealing that they start at around £24,000, with £35k enough to get you into a 2010 model with around 35,000 miles on the clock.
This comes after drivers were urged to consider another rare sports car from the 2000s that Jonny says is “only increasing in price”.
Elsewhere, another motoring expert picked out two modern classics available for less than £10,000 – including an awesome Audi that he describes as “a bit special”.
