Shaughna Phillips hits back as fans accuse her of taking weight loss jab Ozempic after incredible transformation

LOVE Island star Shaughna Phillips has hit back at fans who have accused her of using weight loss jab Ozempic.

The reality TV favourite, 29, revealed her incredible body transformation on Sunday with a before and after comparison on social media.

A trip to the GP earlier this year jolted Shaughna into action after she was told she was obese.

Her dramatic change has led some fans to question if she has dropped weight naturally or used controversial drug Ozempic.

Popular with some Hollywood stars, Ozempic is actually a treatment for type 2 diabetes.

It increases the levels of incretins – a hormone – which helps your body to produce more insulin when needed and supresses the amount of glucose produced by the liver.  

The jab also suppresses users’ appetite – mimicking a naturally occurring hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1, which is usually released after eating.

As a result patients have less of an appetite, and reduce the number of calories they eat.

One follower commented: “Of course it’s Ozempic. Awesome to finally find something that works. Just wish people on social media would be honest about it.”

Shaughna replied: “I don’t take Ozempic but the only way I can prove that to you is probably a blood test, so I guess we’ll just have to leave it there lol.”

Mum-of-one, Shaughna admitted she has shocked herself with her progress.

And she shared the original moving photo image to prove that she hasn’t doctored her slimmer snap.

Shaughna wrote: “So this has been happening… I’ll be honest even I’m shocked. So glad I’ve been taking pictures because honestly, when I look in the mirror, I don’t see any difference, your mind is your biggest enemy sometimes!

“And although being accused of editing your pictures when you actually haven’t is the biggest compliment EVER, I haven’t edited the pic on the right, so I thought I’d include the actual Live Photo just for any doubters.”

The reality star admitted she’s feeling proud of herself having worked hard to improve her mental and physical health.

She continued: “I’ve spoken openly about struggling with my body image since I was a little girl (breaks my heart to even say that), so to be told I was seriously overweight at a doctors appointment wasn’t great.

“This hasn’t been overnight, and I still have a way to go. The truth is, there has been weeks where I have found it so easy, and then there’s been months when I’ve seen no change, so I’m really trying to find what works for me, and I think I’m nearly there.”

She concluded by revealing only one pair of jeans in her wardrobe now fit her.

Fans praised her achievement but reassured her she looked good before too.

One wrote: “You look beautiful in both but so much happier in the second.”

Another said: “Well done you, that difference is amazing!”

A third posted: “Your doing so amazing look fab.”

Shaughna, who welcomed daughter Lucia last April, recently told her 1.4 million followers how a full health checkup motivated her to turn her life around.

She was left stunned after medics revealed she was clinically obese.

In a video message that Shaughna recorded in January but only posted earlier this month, she explained: “They told me that I was obese.

“It isn’t a shock but it’s never nice to hear and the following the checkups that I had done they said I had quite a lot of visceral fat around my organs.”

Shaughna admitted she wasn’t too sure what it all meant.

She continued: “I’m a mum now and it shook me to my core.

“I know I’m not the picture of health but I didn’t realise things were actually that bad and it’s kinda scary to hear it from, like, a medical professional.

“I need to do something, I’m going to get my thinking cap on because I only have one parent because my dad died and without getting too deep, I just never want that to happen to Lucia.”
