London tube station closed after ‘serious police incident’
A man has been arrested following a ‘serious incident’ at Hainault Tube Station .
The station, which is at the end of the Central Line in Redbridge, can be seen surrounded by emergency services, including a police helicopter.
Reports on social media suggest a number of people were attacked with a large knife outside Jet Petrol station around 7.45am.
A video appears to show a man walking near the station with a long blade.
Redbridge Borough Police said: ‘Police are at an incident in the Hainault area.
‘Please follow the instructions of police officers on the ground.
‘A man has been arrested.’
TfL said: ‘This station is closed due to a police investigation in the area.’
A witness told LBC: ‘There was loud shouting outside my road on Laing Close and a young boy stabbed another guy, then went towards the station.’
Another described the scenes as ‘chaos’.
Metro has contacted the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service for comment.
