Rensselaer man pleads guilty to illegal gun possession
RENSSELAER, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Rensselaer man has pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a rifle as a previously convicted felon, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Andrew Williams, 38, now faces up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced.
Williams admitted to possessing a rifle, 15 other firearms and ammunition at his home in Rensselaer on May 2, 2023. Williams was not legally permitted to possess the guns and ammunition due to a past felony conviction for third-degree burglary.
In addition to his prison sentence, Williams also faces a fine of up to $250,000 and a post-release term of supervision of up to three years. He is scheduled to be sentenced on September 4.
