Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Monday, April 29.

Softball

Perry Hall 20, Catonsville 2: The Gators broke open a 4-2 game with 16 fourth-inning runs in the first game of a doubleheader. Madison Carl went 5-for-5 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Jenna Neff, Addie Dunlap, Rileight Kitchin and Amelia Kitchin each drove in two runs in the win.

Perry Hall 9, Catonsville 4: Trying to avoid the sweep, Catonsville jumped ahead 4-0. However, the Gators stormed back. Carl added two triples, four RBIs and two runs to her day. Dunlap, Rileigh Kitchin, Amber Deems and Savannah Carl also drove in runs.

Sparrows Point 14, Eastern Tech 0: The Pointers and Mavericks were scoreless through three innings before Sparrows Point erupted for 11 hits and 14 runs in the fourth inning. Anna Cardoso finished with two hits and three RBIs. Allie Roberts, Alexa Bienkowski, Lacie Miller and Meah Martin all had two RBIs in the win. Miller threw a three-hit shutout to get the win in the circle.

Hereford 17, Lansdowne 4: The Bulls broke open a one-run game with six runs in each the third and fourth innings. Katrina Belardi drove in five runs in the win. Lauren Clement had three RBIs, while Morgan Hall and Ellie Lysse each had two.

Westminster 11, Century 1: L Green had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs to lead the Owls. Kayla Garland had two hits and two RBIs, Olivia Hurst doubled in two runs and Ryley Winebrunner had three hits and an RBI. In the circle, Lila Moxley threw a two-hitter with seven strikeouts.

Francis Scott Key 9, Manchester Valley 6: The Eagles won their 15th straight game in a 10-inning marathon. Morgan Kenney, Lily Reiter and Emma Taff had RBI hits in a four-run top of the 10th. Taff and Kenney each finished with two RBIs and Reiter totaled three hits. Jasmine Kline went the distance in the circle, striking out nine.

Howard 17, Wilde Lake 7: The Lions (6-6) scored 13 runs in the first three innings to break the game open. Olivia Coleman went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and earned the win in the circle, striking out 10. For Wilde Lake (1-14, 1-13), Keira Kusmaul went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, while Olivia Bixler and Katherine Barger each had a hit and an RBI.

Mt. Hebron 15, Oakland Mills 0: Abby Madgar led the Vikings (8-5) offense in the win with an inside-the-park grand slam in the fifth inning. Katherine Williams went 2-for-3 for Mt. Hebron.

Marriotts Ridge 18, Hammond 0: The Mustangs (10-4) dominated on senior day, building an 11-0 lead after two innings. Senior Brynne Mellady led the way with three hits, including a double and a home run, and three RBIs. Fellow senior Jasmin Kirkland had three hits, while senior Jasmine Smith had two hits and two RBIs. Giuliana Marsili, Marriotts Ridge’s fourth senior, also had two hits and an RBI.

River Hill 15, Long Reach 4: The Hawks (8-7, 8-6 Howard County) won their fourth game in a row. Annie Levine earned the win striking out seven in six innings. Brooke Blaskeless had three hits, including a double. and five RBIs. Emily Zagnit went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a double. Mary Maiorana and Kate Thompson each had three hits, Maiorana had two RBIs and Thompson drove in one. For Long Reach (7-6), Abby Richardson had two hits.

Fallston 6, Harford Tech 2: Allyson Underwood pitched six shutout innings, allowing just eight hits. She also had an RBI offensively. Sarah Frist also drove in a run and Peyton Greiner had two of Fallston’s eight hits.

Havre de Grace 9, Edgewood 6: In Game 1 of a doubleheader, the Warriors were powered by an eight-run fourth inning. Bayleigh Carstetter had two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs. Brielle Croxsell doubled, singled and also drove in two.

Havre de Grace 15, Edgewood 10: After falling behind by five runs, the Warriors scored 10 runs in the bottom of the second. Ashley Kovacsics tripled, doubled and collected three RBIs. Sarah Weitzel went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Baseball

North Harford 9, North East 8: After the Hawks let a seven-run lead slip away, they rallied to get the walk-off win on A Martinelli’s RBI double in the bottom of the seventh. Collin Kight and Sean Ellis each had two RBIs in the win, while Jackson Arminger and Tucker Deal also drove in runs. Deal had three hits.

Bel Air 7, Patterson Mill 2: Brennan Deremiek held Patterson Mill to two runs on just six hits in a complete-game effort. He struck out 11 Huskies. Offensively, Talan Johns went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Ben Bowen went 4-for-4 and scored four runs.

John Carroll 6, Loyola Blakefield 4: The Patriots had a five-run lead going into the bottom of the seventh, but had to withstand a Dons rally to earn the win. Pierce Quinn threw six-plus innings to earn the win, allowing eight hits and striking out seven. Casey Carpenter had a home run and two RBIs to lead the offense. Cam Leach also drove in two.

C. Milton Wright 7, Fallston 6: The Mustangs scored four in the bottom of the seventh to steal the win. Zach Loewe had two RBIs for the Cougars. After Landon Melnick brought in one run on a sacrifice fly, Kevin Emerson tripled with the bases loaded to give CMW the walk-off win. Emerson finished with four runs in the game.

River Hill 4, Long Reach 0: Henry Zatkowski dazzled on the mound for the Hawks (11-5, 11-4 Howard County) pitching a complete game shutout with 14 strikeouts. He also went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs. Ryan Walsh and Jonathan Norwood each went 2-for-4 with an RBI. For Long Reach (8-6, 8-5), Matthew Brown and Aidan West each had two hits.

Marriotts Ridge 16, Hammond 0: The Mustangs (5-9) won their second game in a row. Barry Romero sparked the offense with three hits, including a pair of doubles, and five RBIs. Jack Coughlin and Chase Kamerman each had two RBIs, while Owen Snow was 2-for-2 with a triple. Nine different Marriotts Ridge players drove in a run as Sid Thomas pitched a two-hit shutout in the win.

Francis Scott Key 9, Manchester Valley 8: The Eagles spotted the Mavericks five runs in the second inning, but rallied for the win. They scored three in the top of the sixth to tie, which set up Jayden Feeser-Favorite bringing home the winning run on a fielder’s choice in the top of the seventh. Colton Feister went 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the win.

St. Mary’s 6, Leonardtown 5: Ben Bonfiglio had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and two RBIs to help the Saints. Henry Carbone also had three hits and drove in three runs. Brennan Moran and Teagan McDonough each had two hits.

Girls lacrosse

Gerstell 9, Liberty 8: Carter Eberle’s fourth goal of the day was the overtime winner for the Falcons. Meanwhile, Ava Reed made seven saves to slow down the potent Lions offense. Cambrie Franks totaled three goals and an assist in the win, while Sara Fenwick and Maggie Kennedy also scored. Kourtney Goff and Mady Smith each scored twice for Liberty.

Maryvale Prep 15, John Carroll 8: The loss sets the Patriots as the fifth seed in the upcoming IAAM playoffs. They’ll open Friday at Spalding. Pieper McCue had four goals and five draw controls in the game. Annie Minoglio had two goals, Grace Marchetti had a goal and an assist and Lydia Ward had a goal and an assist.

Bel Air 11, Havre de Grace 10: Riley Manzo scored four goals and assisted on two others to lead the Bobcats to the narrow win. Paige Feick, Darby Doehring and Ashley Yingling each added two goals with Yingling also picking up an assist. Molly Magee had two assists. Sophie Molyneux scored four goals for Havre de Grace and Natalie Burton had three.

North Harford 12, Harford Tech 4: Caroline Nicholson scored two goals and assisted on four more in the Hawks’ win. Emily Wilson scored twice and collected six draw controls. Reagan Cadden also had two goals while Emma Konopacki, Ella Morgan, Sophie Deibler, Olivia Bloom, Arlynn Goodman and Julia Underwood each scored once. Peyton Dawson made 14 saves.

C. Milton Wright 19, Patterson Mill 6: For the Huskies, Sam Chittum had two goals and an assist. Rylie Madsen also had two goals while Addison Harmel and Maddie Tunney also scored. Gabby Eraso made 11 saves.

Rising Sun 16, Edgewood 3: Mallory Hax scored two goals for the Rams and Emmerson Whittington had one. Pyper Crothers made 21 saves in goal.

Annapolis 16, Old Mill 2: Senior midfielder Amelia Skinner led the panthers with a game-high five goals. She also added four draw controls. Catherine King collected seven draw controls to go with her three goals. Junior attackers Addie Johns and Brooklynn Ricker each added a pair of goals.

Eastern Tech 15, Western Tech 1: Three Mavericks picked up hat tricks in the win. Marya Barnaba, Olivia Norman and Emily Reese all had three goals with assists. Kylee Jones added two goals and two assists to the win. Keira Choi, Lily Jones and Fern Tien each totaled a goal and an assist, while Olivia Schmidt also scored.

Boys lacrosse

Hereford 8, Dulaney 2: Luke Barnett stopped 10 of the 12 shots he faced to help the Bulls to the win. Brenden Kittner scored twice and assisted on a goal. Ian Smith scored twice, Graydon Young caused three turnovers and Brady Manankil handed out three assists.

Franklin 9, Liberty 8: The Indians earned the nonconference win in overtime. For Liberty, Mason Ambrose had two goals and an assist, and Ethan Carpenetti also had two goals. Riley Wicklein had a goal and an assist.

Coed tennis

Hereford 6, Dulaney 3: Will Cogan and Matt Nawrocki outlasted Andrew Conyers and Sean Patterson in three sets at first boys doubles to help the Bulls to the win. Lukas Everett and Henry Bishop made it a boys doubles sweep. Hereford got girls singles wins from Julia Carrese and Ivanka Charchalis, and a mixed doubles win from Blakeley Auvil and Della Chernoff.

Girls tennis

Liberty 3, South Carroll 2: The Lions edged out the Cavaliers thanks to a three-set third doubles win from Emily Legler and Lillian Kashima. Liberty’s other two points came in singles from Grace Maerten and Payton Oakley. For South Carroll, Audrey Lillycrop and Caroline Aliftiras won first doubles and Callie Chesney and Brooklyn Weitzel won the No. 2 match.

Westminster 3, Century 2: Century’s Bella Filippi won a highly anticipated first singles match over last year’s county champion Daphnee Whitmore, 6-4, 4-6, 10-2. Westminster, however, won the day with a doubles sweep. Sophie Long and Stella Schoberg, Tasia Sebian and Ava Piluk, and Megan McCampbell and Kelsey Boehm all won doubles matches. Varshitha Mahadevuni won second singles for Century.

Atholton 3, Hammond 2: Clara Kadingo won at No. 2 singles for the Raiders. The No. 1 and No. 2 doubles pairings of Angelina Gizdova and Chelsea Sun and Michelle KIm and Crystal Hicks each won.

Boys tennis

Liberty 5, South Carroll 0: The Lions (11-0, 10-0) remained unbeaten and clinched the county championship with the win. Nikhil Andhavarapu and Louis Major won singles matches. Doubles wins came from Arjun Mistry and Hayden Speace, Austin Shade and Jason Murphy, and Chase King and Jayden Venable.

Westminster 4, Century 1: A doubles sweep and a three-set win from Michael Pohuski at first singles gave the Owls the win. Michael Fronheiser and Jarom Hawes swept first doubles, 6-0, 6-0, while Abbott Houle and Aidan Cignatta, and Nishal Patel and Luke Schoberg also got wins. Nolan Mailhot won second singles for Century.

Atholton 5, Hammond 0: Tristan Carter and Nikhil Ramani won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles for the Raiders. The doubles pairings of Jacob Tagawa and Sam Li, Joel Ihm and Philip Wang, and Arjun Sieracki and Nathan Li each won.
