Noughties Nickelodeon actress, 54, looks like she hasn’t aged a day since nine years after show wrapped up
FILM producer and actress Challen Cates appears to have found the elixir of eternal youth, as the former Nickelodeon star still maintains her ageless beauty almost a decade after appearing in hit show.
Challen, 56, is best known for playing the role of family matriarch Jennifer Knight, the mother of characters Kendall and Katie, in teen sitcom Big Time Rush.
The Virginia-born actress appeared in all four seasons as a recurring character on the hit teen sitcom, from 2009 to 2014 and would often by referred to on the show as Momma Knight.
The actress regularly posts stunning pics on Instagram to her devoted 105,000 followers, who send the actress affirming comments, such as “Gorgeous!” and “Drop the beauty secret, please!”
CHALLEN’S BEAUTY REGIMEN
The mother-of-two credits her youthful glow to staying hydrated and burning calories by playing with her children.
She told SELF magazine back in 2012: “Staying hydrated is so vital to your health and complexion, so drink up! Sunglasses also help to protect the skin around my eyes, helping to protect sun exposure.”
Challen continued: “Protecting the delicate skin around the eyes can take years off of your appearance.”
“I feel so young, playful and spontaneous when I have hanging out with Colton and Jasper! Running, jumping and swimming helps to burn many calories!”
Challen also does her best to avoid “sugary juices or sodas [fizzy drinks]”, choosing to “drink water, coffee or a delicious glass of Pinot Noir.”
In addition to this, she confesses that Pilates helped to transform her body, telling the magazine: “Pilates! The gym did not work for me, Pilates did.”
The Passions actress continued: “I was amazed with the change and definition I saw in my body. I have done [Pilates] for years and I will always be devoted to Pilates.”
THE IMPACT OF BIG TIME RUSH
Challen’s TV mum, Jennifer, would look after the shows four young main characters: Minnesotan hockey players-turned boy band members: Big Time Rush, while they were in L.A.
The debut episode had an astounding 6.8 million viewers, making it Nickelodeon’s highest-rated live-action series debut ever.
She also appeared in four Big Time Rush movies such as Big Time Audition, Big Time Concern, Big Time Beach Party and the Christmas-themed film Big Time Christmas.
CHALLEN’S NOUGHTIES TV AND FILM SUCCESSES
The everlasting beauty has had a string of successful television work since the early 2000s.
Including critically acclaimed performances and minor roles including Cybil, Diagnosis: Murder, Criminal Minds, 1-800-Missing, CSI: NY and Desperate Housewives.
The ageless starlet expanded her talents further that same year, as an executive producer of two American independent movies, 1998s A Fare To Remember and 2001s The A-List.
Jennifer had been on double duty for both films, as she starred as a main character in addition to producing them.
She played the lead role in another independent hit movie They Would Love You In France back in 2004.
In 2007, the multi-hyphenate star played the role as a psychic in the TV movie of The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning.
The actress and anti-bullying campaigner catapulted into fame back in 1991, after acting in the successful TV series In The Heat Of The Night.
The critically acclaimed series had been intended as a sequel to the classic 1967 film of the same name, starring the late iconic actor Sidney Poitier.
CHALLEN’S CURRENT LIFE
In recent years, Challen has invested her time in running a wine company called Challen Winery in Santa Barbara, inspired by her father who was a winemaker.
The CSI:NY actress resides in Los Angeles with her husband, famed acting coach to the stars Aaron McPherson who have been married since 2005.
The lovebirds share two children together, daughter Jasper and son Colton. The family are joined by their two adorable dogs Judy and Greta.
