Second New Jerseyan charged in alleged Shaftsbury home invasion
SHAFTSBURY, Vt. (NEWS10) — At around 11 p.m. on Oct. 23, 2023, Vermont State Police responded to a home on Twitchell Hill Road in Shaftsbury for a reported shooting. They say that their investigation determined that two men came inside, violently forced two people into the basement, and shot one of them.
According to police, one of the two men was Mohamed Hamdi. Police charged him with kidnapping and aggravated assault in January. Now, they say the second man turned himself in.
Police identified Matthew K. Osei, 29, of Colonia, New Jersey as the suspect in the case who pulled the trigger, and charged him with first-degree attempted murder. They say that Hamdi and Osei worked together to attack the victims, identified previously identified as a a 33-year-old man and a 25-year-old man.
Police say that Osei shot Osei shot Joseph Maccioli, age 33. He turned himself in to Vermont State Police in Shaftsbury on Friday, April 26.
