US practiced destroying Iran’s nuclear program before 2010: Former CENTCOM commander
David Petraeus, former commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), told Newsmax that during his tenure from 2008 to 2010, the United States devised a plan to destroy Iran’s nuclear program and even practiced it.
He said Israel does not have all the necessary capabilities to destroy Iran’s nuclear program and must rely on the United States for that.
Petraeus emphasized that although the Islamic Republic has approached the level of weapons-grade enriched uranium production, neither the United States nor Israel will ever allow Tehran to build a nuclear bomb.
In recent clashes between Iran and Israel, tensions in the Middle East have escalated significantly, exacerbating regional security dynamics. The clashes, often characterized by military strikes and covert operations, stem from longstanding geopolitical rivalries and ideological differences between the two countries.
Iran’s support for militant groups across the region, such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza, has been a major point of contention for Israel, which views these groups as direct threats to its security.
The involvement of external actors, including the United States and other global powers, further complicates the situation as they navigate complex alliances and strategic interests in the region.
Additionally, the risk of escalation and unintended consequences remains high, with the potential to draw in other regional actors and trigger wider conflict.
Despite occasional diplomatic overtures, the underlying issues driving the Iran-Israel conflict persist, posing ongoing challenges to regional security and stability in the Middle East.
