I’m a sexy softplay siren & wear a catsuit to the ballpit – jealous mums glare, I refuse to give into the boring brigade
WALKING into the soft play centre wearing gold glitter moon boots and a vintage fur coat, Carolyn Anderson smiles with glee.
She’s looking forward to spending an afternoon with her son, Theo-Zeus, but she also loves the idea of winding up the ‘bores’ who frequent the venue with their own kids.
So, dropping her coat and bag on a seat, events coordinator Carolyn, 39, from Merseyside, reveals an all-in-one zip front, full body catsuit that shows off everything.
Wearing carefully applied makeup and styled hair Carolyn grabs five-year-old Theo-Zeus’s hand and the pair do a running leap into the ball pit while stunned parents point and stare.
“Can you believe what she’s wearing?” says one mum, just loudly enough for fun-loving Carolyn to hear.
“Who does she think she is?” sniggers her pal. “Soft play isn’t for modelling. I mean a catsuit, moon boots and a beauty spot! It’s disgraceful.”

And another: “Look at her curves, boobs and outfit. Why isn’t she wearing sensible trackie pants like us? She needs to grow up.”
But Carolyn isn’t at all worried. This mum considers whispers and snarky comments a mark of approval.
“I am a sexy soft play mum, and I am proud,” she says. “I wear what makes me happy.
“I get trolled for wearing catsuits, heels and ‘loud’ outfits to soft play and nursery. I bring joy wearing figure hugging outfits. It’s not my fault people think it’s sexy.”
“I wear Vivienne Westwood, Sonia Rykiel, Pucci and even Chanel to soft play. I wear what suits my style – vintage, charity shop or designer buys.

“It takes me an hour and a half to do my hair and makeup. I wear outfits that fit my personality. I won’t be bullied into being boring.”

According to Carolynn she still IDed when she’s buying a bottle of wine.
“It makes me smile,” she says. “I put it down to fun living and my fashion choices.

“I intend to be a glam mum with her own unique sexy style until I am 90.
“If people don’t like my blonde ’60s bombshell look or my choice of vintage, designer and charity shops outfits, I am not bothered. They should stop looking.
“I go to soft play to have fun with my son. I’ll wear a Janda Fonda or Barbarella style-catsuit, a Vivienne Westwood corset dress or a 50p dress from the charity shop.
“I may bring my Chanel purse, or my charity shop designer frock find and a 60-year-old fur coat that cost me a tenner.”
“I refuse to dress in boring mum ‘greige’. If other parents want to wear trackie pants and big jumpers that’s cool. I won’t criticise them. It’s their fashion choice . Good for them.

“I am a very non judgemental person. I understand however why some people like to snigger and point. It doesn’t bother me
“I prefer loud colours and an eclectic wardrobe that shows off my body and my love for life.”

“I wear only the brightest clothes I can find. I love mixing vintage with designer fashion. I wear fun colours and celebrate being a sexy, soft play mum.

“That’s a title other people give me. If it makes them look sideways me then I accept the badge with honour.”
According to Carolyn, more women would get more compliments if they wore a full body catsuit with a front zip as a go-to outfit for soft play or other indoor game centres with their kids.
“It’s a classy look. You can dress it up or down and you will look good,” she says

“Kim Kardashian and her sisters wear full body catsuits all the time. They push you out in the right places and hide any flabby or floppy bits you might have.
“People look at me and think I am in my mid-20s. My blonde hair, fun attitude and makeup often gets me mistaken for a 25-year-old. I’m turning 40 in nine months and that shocks people.”
Carolyn says she will never ‘dress her age’.
“I will never dress in what people think is their version of ‘my age’,” she says. “I look young because I refuse to be boring and turn into a dull mum. It suits some people. It doesn’t suit me.
“I refuse to dress down on the nursery run, a trip to the zoo or to a soft play centre. It shows my son I have pride in my clothes and won’t let other people define me.
Pamela Anderson lookalike
“He also sees me smiling and having a good time in my outfits. He sees me spreading ‘fashion fun’.
In 2010 Carolyn, who was working as a model, started working part-time as Pamela Anderson looked alike.
“Friends and even my dad told me I looked like her. Baywatch was a huge hit and my agent got me bookings as a Pammy double. I loved it.”
“I am only 5ft 6ins and being a lookalike was a chance to extend my modelling career. I loved it. Pamela Anderson is an icon. It taught me to appreciate iconic fashion looks,” she says.
Carolyn worked in Los Angeles, Britain and Europe modelling and doing look-alike appearances.
Carolyn's morning routine
Carolyn takes an hour-and-a-half every morning to get ready.
“I get up at 7am,” she says. “That’s the time to blow dry and style my hair and get my perfect day makeup look.
“I love blue eyeliner and always have a tattooed beauty spot. I love the sixties glam pin up look but with a modern edge. It makes my son smile and brings me joy.
“I wear bright colours because it makes me smile. It’s dopamine dressing. When you put on an outfit that makes you feel good or sexy it shows. It makes me smile.”
“I had one boob and numerous corrective procedures, costing £5k.
Carolyn spends £900 a year on Botox, filler and chemical peels.
“I fell pregnant with Theo-Zeus when I was 35,” she says. “My fashion style was firmly established. I vowed to not let myself become a boring mum fashion victim after I had my baby. What’s the fun in that?”
“I wasn’t going to follow the ‘mum herd’ and dress down or in a boring way just because I had a child. I simply adapted my wardrobe.”
