Family of Lafayette woman killed in December seeks justice
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)-- A Lafayette family is demanding justice after their loved one was shot and killed in December.
Fredrika Stevens, 46, was killed on Tenth Street four months ago. No one has been arrested. Stevens' sister, Erica Richard, said it doesn't seem real her sister is no longer here.
"From my mother to myself, my kids, my siblings, it's been still unrealistic," Richard said.
Richard said the last four months have been difficult. She said they will always remember Stevens for being a bright light.
"Dreek gonna turn your day around," she said. "She didn't want you to be sad. She didn't want you to be worried. If you weren't happy, she was gonna make you more happy. Dreek was just Dreek."
Stevens' mother, Barbara Stevens, said there is a lot of pain from her daughter's killing.
"I'm still upset about it, and I pray every day that they find who did this," Barbara Stevens said. "I just want you to understand what you did to us. You took away my baby and that just hurts me."
Richard sends a message to the suspects.
"To the killers, to the killer's family, to anyone who may have any insight on what happened to my sister on December 2, know that y'all may have forgotten, or y'all may have put it in the back of y'all mind, but we have not. We never will," Richard said.
"We love you Dreek, we miss you so much, we're gonna miss the times we used to spend together and just laugh, sit around, and talk," Richard said.
The family said they will not stop advocating for justice for Fredrika Stevens, until her killers are found.
