Breaux Bridge man killed in Thursday night bicycle crash
BREAUX BRIDGE, La. (KLFY) -- A Breaux Bridge man was hit and killed while riding a bicycle Thursday night, authorities said.
Shelton J. Edmond, 66, of Breaux Bridge, was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash in the 1300 block of Zin Zin Road in Breaux Bridge, according to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies recieved a 911 call at approximately 9 p.m. Thursday from a motorist regarding a vehicle crash involving a bicyclist.
Investigators said when the impact occurred, the driver of the vehicle was traveling west on Zin Zin Road at the same time the bicyclist, identified as Edmond, was also traveling west. Deputies said the bicycle was not equipped with a rear light or reflector and Edmond was wearing dark clothing. Driver impairment was determined not to be a factor, authorities said.
The investigation remains ongoing, officials said.
