Morgan City woman arrested, charged with cashing forged checks
NAPOLEONVILLE, La. (KLFY) – A Morgan City woman has been arrested in connection with a string of forged checks, authorities said.
Kristy Renee Rulf, 46, of Morgan City, is charged with identity theft, bank fraud, access device fraud, forgery and monetary instrument abuse, according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office.
On Feb. 9, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s detectives initiated an investigation regarding forged checks cashed at a Pierre Part retail outlet. Detectives said on Nov. 21, three individuals entered the business and cashed checks which had been forged.
Detectives identified three suspects who allegedly presented the forged instruments for cashing. Rulf is the second suspect arrested in connection to this case, officials said.
Rulf turned herself into the Assumption Parish Detention Center Thursday and remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing, authorities said.
