Police arrest Troy man over alleged handgun, assault
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Troy police arrested a local man on Wednesday, claiming he had a loaded, stolen gun. They reported charges against Ramell D. Edge, 37, of Troy for having an illegal handgun, assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police arrived to the scene of a reported domestic dispute on Marshall Street, where they say Edge used a gun to hit a woman in the face while children were present. The woman and children had an order of protection against him, which he'd also violated, police added.
Police got a search warrant for Edge's car, where they found the gun—reported stolen from North Carolina, according to police. His charges include:
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- First-degree criminal contempt
- Third-degree assault
- Endangering the welfare of a child
