Student accused of bringing loaded gun to Mont Pleasant Middle School
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A seventh grade student has been arrested after police said he brought a loaded gun to school on Friday.
Police went to Mont Pleasant Middle School around 1 p.m. Friday for a report of a gun being found by school staff. Police said a student had a loaded .45 caliber handgun in his backpack.
School staff took the backpack, and the student was taken into custody. It does not appear that the student had made any threats to use the gun, according to police.
The 13-year-old was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. His identity is not being released due to his age.
