ITV axes News repeat after viewers’ health concerns over ‘struggling’ presenter
BOSSES at ITV axed its News At Ten repeat following concerns from viewers about its presenter.
Rageh Omaar, 56, was at the helm of the flagship bulletin, bringing viewers the latest news.
Rageh Omaar appeared to be unwell while hosting News At Ten[/caption] In a shock move ITV bosses have now pulled the repeat of News At 10 from its +1 channel[/caption] Dad-of-three Rageh is also the station’s current International Affairs Editor[/caption]However, just minutes into the show those watching at home noticed how the journalist and anchor appeared shaky on screen.
During the programme Rageh also struggled to ‘get his words out’ which prompted worry from viewers.
In a shock move ITV bosses have now pulled the repeat of News At 10 from its +1 channel.
A message on screen said: “We’ll be back soon. We’re temporarily unable to bring you our +1 service.
“We will resume shortly.”
Taking to social media, one viewers said: “What happened to him, is he ok & why didn’t they take him off air?”
A second wrote: “Hoping Rageh Omaar got the care he quite clearly needed after the ITV news tonight. Not entirely sure of the context and why he had to continue broadcasting, but I’m sure there will be an explanation in time.”
“Really upsetting viewing. Struggling to speak and slurring words,” said a third.
While a fourth commented: “I thought he was just having problems with the auto cue but I hope he’s feeling better.”
The Sun has contacted ITV for comment.
Before joining ITV Rageh first worked for the BBC as the broadcaster’s world affairs correspondent.
In 2013 he then became a special correspondent with ITN and then later became a stand-in presenter for ITV News bulletins.
The dad-of-three is also the station’s current International Affairs Editor.
