Uzbekistan sends 169 tons of aid to Afghanistan
Uzbek media reported that a new package containing 169 tons of humanitarian aid had been delivered to Balkh province from Termez.
According to reports, the delivery took place in the presence of Mohammad Yousuf Wafa, the Taliban governor of Balkh, and Erkin Khamraev the Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister.
Uzbekistan’s official sources have stated that the new aid package includes 48 tons of flour, 48 tons of wheat, 15 tons of vegetable oil, 24 tons of sugar, 22 tons of macaroni, and packaged meat.
There have been good diplomatic relations between the Taliban administration and Uzbekistan since the group’s return to power.
Since August 2021, the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan has deteriorated significantly. The Taliban’s return to power has led to widespread concerns about human rights violations and the restriction of freedoms, particularly for women.
The Taliban’s policies, including the banning of women from education and employment, have exacerbated the already dire humanitarian conditions in the country. This exclusion of women from public life has had severe consequences for their well-being and the overall stability of Afghan society.
The lack of effective policies by the current regime to address the welfare of the Afghan people has further worsened the humanitarian crisis. Without adequate support systems in place, vulnerable populations are left without essential resources and assistance, deepening their suffering and vulnerability.
