NYS providing rebates for local climate action
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- More state money is being made available to help guide New York into a greener future. State leaders announced $750,000 worth of rebate grants that New York cities and towns can tap into to support electric vehicle infrastructure.
It's part of the Climate Smart Communities Act, which helps local governments reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
"We need to drive down emissions. We need to electrify our transportation. We need to achieve this with the creativity that we are bringing at the state level, and our local leaders are doing just that."
This year, Schenectady County and the town of New Lebanon both reached Silver Status as climate start communities, the highest level in the program. There are currently more than 400 registered climate smart communities in New York.
