Muggsy Bogues Does The Seemingly Impossible
He did that every game but this is off the charts even by his standard.
When we talked about Muggsy Bogues the other day, we think we briefly mentioned one of his most incredible plays - the night the 5-3 Bogues blocked a shot by the 7-0 Patrick Ewing.
This was in a game from April of 1993 between the New York Knicks and the Charlotte Hornets and while it’s been mind-blowing ever since, we noticed something today that’s absolutely incredible.
In order to see it clearly, if you don’t know this, the < > keys next to the M on your keyboard will reverse or advance the video frame by frame. That’ll be handy here.
Pause the video after Bogues stops speaking (around 0:08) and then hit the right arrow and you’ll see something pretty amazing: Bogues blocks the shot - on the way down.
The fact that he blocked a shot on someone who was nearly two feet taller than he is is unbelievable enough...but he anticipated the play well enough and jumped high enough to actually get it as he was descending is just freakish.
There truly will never be another Bogues.
