Mariners Game #24: 4/24/24, SEA at TEX
Bryce Miller looks for redemption against the Rangers
The last time Bryce Miller faced the Rangers in Texas, September 22 of the 2023 season, he gave up four runs in the first two innings: a solo home run to Corey Seager in the first, and a three-run home run to Evan Carter in the second. Each of those home runs were given up to a left-handed batter on the first pitch of the at-bat. Carter and Seager would team up to jump on Miller again in the fifth, and lefty Tayler Saucedo, struggling with his command, allowed both runners to score; the Rangers ended that inning up 8-0.
It will be a different Bryce Miller who steps on the mound in Globe Life Field tonight, one with a deeper arsenal and more weapons to get lefties out, specifically. But tonight’s game, facing the lefty-heavy powerhouse Rangers lineup, will be Miller’s most stringent test yet of his new arsenal.
Adding to the challenge, the Mariners will have to take on the Rangers without one of their hottest hitters, as Cal Raleigh had oral surgery this morning.
Raleigh out of the #Mariners lineup because he had oral surgery this morning. Caught a shutout and hit a home run with a really bad tooth last night. Looked terrible after the game.
