Takayama, Furutani, Saeki and Miyazawa make weight for title double header
Tomorrow fight fans in Japan will get the chance to see a stacked card from Korakuen Hall, as they get "Lemino BOXING Phoenix Battle 114". The show is a really good one on paper, with two title fights, and two bouts that are set to be held as part of an intriguing 6-man Lightweight tournament.
Today, the fighters involved on the show took part in their weigh-in, and all made weight for their relevant contests.
In the main event of the show Japanese Flyweight champion Suzumi Takayama (7-0, 6) [高山涼深] will be defending his title, in his second defense, as he takes on Akio Furutani (11-6, 4) [古谷昭男] in a Champion Carnival bout. On the scales both men were bang on the limit, and both looked in great shape, with Takayama stating that he wasn’t carrying any niggling injuries despite breaking a finger late last year and Furutani explaining that he had been training with Ryosuke Nishida (8-0, 1) [西田凌佑] to prepare for the contest.
The chief support bout will see Yuma Saeki (3-0, 3) [佐伯侑馬] clash with Rento Miyazawa (6-2-1, 2) [宮澤漣斗] in a bout for the vacant Japanese Youth Minimumweight title. On the scales Saeki was well under the limit, at 104.25lb whilst Miyazawa was 104.75lb with both looking in great shape for the most important bout of their respective careers, so far.
