Food pantry opens to SUNY Cobleskill students
COBLESKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- SUNY Cobleskill students have access to an emergency food pantry that opened earlier this month. The pantry is in Bouck Hall and offers food, beverages, toiletries, and hygiene products that were gathered through SUNY funding and donations by the community.
Students can access the food pantry Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. by appointment. The pantry opened on April 15 and was funded by money SUNY campuses received in September 2023 from the state budget.
SUNY Chancellor John B. King, Jr. said SUNY prides itself on life-changing opportunities for students, but also realizes challenges students face like food security, reliable housing, and transportation. "Thanks to the support of Governor (Kathy) Hochul, SUNY has made a significant investment to addressing food insecurity on our campuses coupled with an initiative to connect students with SNAP benefits, a sustainable, long-term solution that provides many food-insecure students with help," he said.
