Partially decomposed body found in Clark County homeless camp
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Authorities are investigating the death of a person who was already “partially decomposed” when their remains were found in a Clark County homeless camp.
Deputies received an online tip from a nearby resident that the body was seen inside a tent in a wooded area near NE 179th Street and NE 10th Avenue on Monday.
The next morning, a search and rescue team cut a path into the woods and disassembled the tent to find what was left of the remains. A medical examiner has yet to identify the body.
“There were indications the remains had been there for an extended period of time, with initial estimates of between 6-12 months,” Clark County officials said.
An investigation into the cause of the person’s death is ongoing.
