I converted my backyard into an 800 sq ft patio – people say it’s ‘legitimately one of the best DIYs they’ve ever seen’
A LANDSCAPING fan has given the big reveal, converting their backyard into a patio.
The job had people in awe, with one person going as far as to say it’s “one of the best DIYs.”
A Redditor has spilled the step-by-step process of transforming their backyard[/caption] They decided to build an entire patio area from scratch in a huge DIY project[/caption]Redditor TheAccidentOf85 shared the epic outdoor glow up in a post to the social media platform.
“I converted my hilly backyard into an ~800 square-foot patio by hand,” they said.
The hilly terrain of the area seemed liked a difficult job to tackle.
However, the Redditor provided photos of the job, illustrating the lengths they went through to completely transform their patio.
HOW IT’S DONE
The landscaping DIYer gave a play-by-play of the backyard glow up, often featuring their pet dog.
“My dog helping me dig up the yard.” they joked.
The job required delivery of materials, complete excavation, and creating a whole new foundation.
The final result included stairs, a dining area, and even a fire pit to relax around.
“So we bought a house last year, and there was no outdoor living space,” the Redditor said.
“So one of my first major projects was building a deck or patio. This patio took me 2.5 months of working on weekends, not every weekend.
“I built it with a shovel, pick axe, pitchfork, wheel barrow and hand tamp mostly.
“I rented a plate compactor to compact the foundation of the patio area. The wall blocks and pavers are Nicolock brand.”
The Redditor also added that the job took about $10,000 in materials.
They said that they saved around $15,000, compared to quotes they received from landscaping services.
PERFECT PATIO
Several users of the social media platform were in awe of the DIY patio.
“Your place is beautiful, and that patio looks like a quality-time magnet. Mad respect for the hand-work,” one wrote.
“This was my patio project also done mostly by hand over the summer in Texas.
“It’s amazing what you can accomplish with persistence over time.”
“This is legitimately one of the best DIYs I’ve ever seen in this sub,” another added.
“Seems totally doable with a lot of sweat and a little know-how, and looks goddamned incredible. Thanks for sharing, and congratulations.”
The final result left fellow Redditors stunned by the backyard transformation[/caption]
