MCSO: Gunshot outside Pittsford Wegmans led to brief lockdown
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Deputies are investigating after a gunshot was fired outside the Wegmans in Pittsford.
Nexstar contributor WROC (News 8) was told by customers that the store was placed under lockdown. A deputy also said that everyone inside the store was safe and was being let out of the building.
Outside the store, the entrance to the parking lot has been blocked, but MCSO is letting people leave. No injuries have been reported and deputies are searching for a car involved in the incident.
A News 8 crew witnessed a car getting towed away from the scene with one of its windows covered up with a tarp. The video can be seen below:
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is working to investigate and is interviewing witnesses. Deputies released pictures of the suspect's vehicle:
The Pittsford Central School District sent out an alert to parents that all Pittsford campuses will be closed for lunches out of an abundance of caution.
