NYC man convicted of 2023 Saratoga tricycle robbery
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A New York City man was convicted of a 2023 Saratoga Springs tricycle robbery on Friday. Anthony Allen, 47, faces up to seven years in prison when he is sentenced in June.
According to the Saratoga County District Attorney's Office, Allen followed the 74-year-old victim into her apartment, pretending to help her with a large package, and forcibly ripped the adult Schwinn tricycle from her. Allen then fled the scene and hid in a nearby bathroom.
A neighbor called the Saratoga Springs Police Department who arrived and found the tricycle in a nearby apartment. The tricycle was returned within an hour.
The Saratoga County District Attorney's Office says Allen claimed he was the owner of the tricycle. His claim was rejected after a review of video evidence and testimony from eyewitnesses, law enforcement, and the victim herself.
