Mechanicville man pleads guilty to multiple sex crimes
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Mechanicville man has admitted to committing multiple sex crimes involving a child, according to the Saratoga County District Attorney's Office. Ryan Jewett, 32, pleaded guilty on April 19 to one count of sexual conduct against a child and one count of second-degree rape.
An investigation conducted by the Mechanicville Police Department revealed evidence that Jewett had contact with and sexually abused a 9-year-old victim. The evidence included digital documentation of the crimes that were created by Jewett.
"Obtaining a plea in this type of a case is significant for all involved, especially the victim in the case," said District Attorney Karen Heggen. "The thorough and dedicated efforts of Detective Sergeant Alexander Dunn and Chief William Rabbitt of the Mechanicville Police Department enabled the victim and the victim's family to achieve justice in this matter."
As part of his guilty plea, the SCDAO says that Jewett is expected to be sentenced to 29 years in state prison, as well as a 20-year term of post-release supervision and mandatory registration as a sex offender. Jewett is also currently charged with allegedly attempting to meet a 13-year-old for sex and possessing numerous child sex abuse images on his cell phone.
