Report: Spurs plan ‘a summit’ as they eye move for £30m-rated attacker
Calcio Mercato have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to meet with Genoa to discuss Djed Spence’s future and the North London club will use the opportunity to also talk about a potential move for Albert Gudmundsson.
The outlet backs up what we have already heard from various Italian publications over recent weeks by reporting that Spurs are set to battle Inter Milan and Juventus for Gudmundsson’s signature this summer.
It is said that the Lilywhites will try to ‘overcome’ the two Italian sides in the race for the Iceland international and they might have an advantage in their quest to do so.
This is because Genoa are expected to demand over €35m (£30m) for the versatile forward after turning down an offer of around €25m (£21.4m) for the player from Fiorentina in January.
The report says that both the Bianconeri and the Nerazzurri are struggling to meet the aforementioned asking price.
Meeting expected between Spurs and Genoa
The report adds that Tottenham have now ‘planned a summit’ with Genoa to discuss the future of Spence, who is currently on loan at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.
It is asserted that the topic of Gudmundsson’s future is expected to come up in the meeting, with Ange Postecoglou’s men hoping to strike a deal for the 26-year-old ahead of other suitors.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham will likely waive off a portion of Genoa’s €10m (£8.6m) option to buy Spence as a sweetener to try and land Gudmundsson. Given the good relationship that Spurs have with the Italian side, the Lilywhites might be confident of reaching an agreement for the forward ahead of both Juve and Inter.
