AN animal technician has given the low down on dog breeds to watch out for.
One energetic mutt in particular drives them up the wall.

They’ve seen enough canines trot through their office to come to some conclusions.
And it wasn’t just dogs that were subject to their appraising eye – it was their owners too.
They figured they could do with some good training and discipline too.
At the top of their list was the beautiful husky, but they were not for everyone.
Its lineage is as a working dog in freezing temperatures. Therefore, they are not suited for the tropics, and they need plenty of exercise.
Labradors were next. Most people agree they make lovely pets, but they are prone to cancer.
Pugs have experienced a surge in popularity in recent years, but these little guys also suffer a host of respiratory problems.
Chows chows are balls of fluff and are loyal to their owners, but they can be wary of strangers, so early socialization and training are important.
Shibas can form strong bonds with their owners, but they can be stubborn and independent.
Our animal technician liked beagles, but they drove her up the wall.
They are bred as hunting dogs, and, if let off the leash, will follow a scent until kingdom come.
They are energetic dogs and need lots of exercise. A sedentary life is not for them.
The animal care tech was no fan of the smaller, fluffy breeds like Shih Tzus.
“It’s not that I dislike them, but they’re not what I’d want for myself,” they wrote.
They liked beagles but they were high-energy[/caption]Chihuahuas were mean, the expert said, but they seemed to like them.
“They love me though. My co-workers started calling me the chihuahua whisperer because they always end up being my buddies.”
The pro didn’t have a problem with German Shepherds. As for their owners, they had very little time for their antics.
“I love German Shepherds when they don’t have crazy and stupid owners,” they wrote.
Their favorite breeds were the terriers and one other: “I have a thing for pits and staffies.”
One commenter said her chihuahua was impeccably behaved.
“Chihuahua whisperer here. Mine are well socialized though and I don’t tolerate ugly behavior,” they said.
