'Why so quiet?' MSNBC's Mika suggests Trump's silence means witness has dirt on him
Donald Trump's silence on former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker, who is appearing as a witness for the prosecution in the hush money trial playing out in a Manhattan courtroom, raised eyebrows Wednesday morning on MSNBC.
With the former president still lashing out before the press and on his Truth Social platform at his former attorney Michael Cohen, who has yet to take the stand, one "Morning Joe" analyst suggested the former scandal sheet publisher has unreleased dirt on Trump that has the former president quaking in his boots.
During a discussion on the damage Pecker is inflicting on Trump by providing detailed information about spiking scandal stories for cash leading up to the 2016 election, the MSNBC panel noted that Trump has left the publisher out of his rants.

Legal analyst Andrew Weissmann told the panel he found Pecker's testimony "devastating" to the former president's legal defense, and "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski added, "You know, it did seem devastating on so many levels, and it really pulled back the curtain on these things are done, and I don't understand how defamation doesn't come into play on all of these crazy stories that the National Enquirer just put out there on these politicians that we are talking about."
Turning to panelist Mike Barnicle, she prompted, "I can't think of anyone who has hurt Donald Trump's case up to this point more than Pecker. Yet, he doesn't post about Pecker, he doesn't rant about Pecker, he talks about Michael Cohen, he talks about other witnesses. That is why the whole gag order thing is an issue — what's the deal? Why so quiet about Pecker?"
"Maybe Pecker has something on him that Donald knows and only Pecker knows," Barnicle replied with a laugh. "I certainly don't know, Mika."
"But you know, what Andrew is just saying, we ought to think about that a little bit more because I think out there in this great country called America, people, ordinary people have heard about the news media for eight, nine years now, cataloguing it as fake news by one of the most important people in the country, unfortunately, the former president of the United States, and I don't know that a whole lot of people would be that shocked at the testimony about what the Enquirer was engaged in."
