Royals use Guerrero gaffe to beat Blue Jays
You take what you can get!
In the middle of their offensive tailspin, the Royals used a timely error in the field to come from behind and defeat the Blue Jays 3-2. The victory snaps a three-game losing streak that began back on Saturday.
It wasn’t an easy night, by any means, for veteran right-hander Michael Wacha. From the get-go, Toronto’s lineup made him work. With Wacha’s pitch count rising, the Blue Jays drew first blood in the third inning on an infield single.
Wacha wouldn’t make it out of the fifth inning and departed with the bases loaded and one out. In a crucial moment, Chris Stratton came on and limited the damage to one run — keeping the Royals within two.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, things finally bounced in favor of Kansas City. After Adam Frazier was thrown out on another contact play, Kyle Isbel strolled to the plate with the hopes of cutting the lead in half. Isbel, though, didn’t get it out of the infield. However, the throw from third base glanced off the glove of Vladimir Guerrero Jr and rolled into foul territory — scoring the Royals’ first run of the night.
Moments later, Bobby Witt Jr ripped a two-run double down the left field line and gave Kansas City its first lead since Friday night.

Along with Stratton, John Schreiber and James McArthur did their part in hanging on to the slim lead. McArthur, in fact, recorded the final six outs to secure the save. He did so with a little help from the defense.
