I tried JLo’s ‘lightbulb’ underpainting technique – the contouring trick sculpted my chin and gave me her iconic glow
A MAKEUP lover has tackled a beauty trick popularized by none other than Miss Jenny from the Block herself.
When she tried Jennifer Lopez’s underpainting contour technique, it sculpted her chin and made her skin glow.
Victoria Lyn (@victorialyn) is a fan of all things beauty and skincare.
She tried a contouring technique from JLo’s actual makeup artist Scott Barnes.
She demonstrated in an Instagram Reel how she did the “lightbulb method” step by step “with a side of underpainting.”
The blonde first put on a thick layer of concealer “in a lifting placement” under her eyes, around her nose, forehead, and on her chin.
Just like the popstar does, she used the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, $32, in the shade Cafe Au Lait.
“The concealer actually matches her skin. Not brightening, but more so evening everything out and perfecting everything first,” she said.
Victoria then blended it out with a thick blush and it meshed well with her skintone.
Jennifer does a cream to contour, so the beauty fan copied her and used the Makeup Forever All-in-one Face Palette, $88.
She drew thick burnt orange streaks around her forehead, around her cheekbones, down her nose, and completely cover under her chin and jawline.
Vicotoria advised to “go a little bit higher than where your cheekbone is” to get the desired look.
The “lightbulb” technique is where she darkens underneath her chin so it doesn’t “light up.”
Another unique aspect was how she brought the contour around her lips for a plumping effect that makes the lips look “more pouty.”
It was okay to go “really intense with it” because the next step was to cover it all with foundation.
Make sure to “blend, blend, blend” it everywhere.
Victoria mimicked Jennifer’s strategy up going up and down on the nose to keep the contour in place.
To finish it off, she added a touch of peach blush to the top of her cheeks and set it with Makeup Forever Ultra HD Loose Setting Powder, $39.
Her skin shone like a star at the end of the video due to the underpainting method.
She embraced your inner superstar, and let her beauty shine bright like Jennifer herself.
“I’m feeling the glow,” Victoria said.
Jennifer Lopez may be 54-years-old, but the entertainer has never looked better, and several people agree.
“I just saw JLo in a restaurant, she and her friend had a table very close to mine. SHE LOOKS EVEN BETTER THAN PICTURES WITH FILTER. Wow! She’s super beautiful!” a woman commented.
