Amber Alert: Murder, kidnapping suspect spotted at Plaid Pantry in North Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A Yakima man wanted for murder and the kidnapping of a 1-year-old boy was spotted at a North Portland Plaid Pantry, their CEO confirmed Tuesday morning.
Elias Huizar is wanted after fleeing the scene of a shooting at Willam Wiley Elementary School in West Richland, Wash. on Monday afternoon where a woman had been shot and killed.
According to KIRO in Seattle, it was later discovered that another woman -- believed to be his ex-wife -- was found dead in his home.
Police believe that Huizar also kidnapped his son, Roman Huizar, and that he may be fleeing to Mexico. An Amber Alert was issued late Monday night.
According to West Richland police, Portland police told them that Huizar was seen in Portland overnight driving a black sedan.
It is believed that Huizar was spotted at a North Portland Plaid Pantry around 12:40 a.m., the company's CEO told KOIN 6.
After reviewing the security tapes, Plaid Pantry CEO Jonathan Polonsky told KOIN 6 that he believes Huizar was spotted early Tuesday morning at the Plaid Pantry on Hayden Island, the tapes were then turned over to Portland police for review.
PPB confirmed a store clerk had called 911 to report seeing Huizar purchase a drink with a child in the backseat of the vehicle he was driving.
The boy, Roman, is described as 2 foot 6 inches and 25 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Elias Huizar is 39, 5 foot 6 inches, 170 pounds and also has brown hair and brown eyes.
