YouTube Gold: Good Times In The Garden
Knicks fans will talk about this one for a long time to come
There’s no question that New Yorkers love their Knicks but it’s also true that it can’t be easy to be a Knicks fan.
New York hasn’t won a title since 1973 and while Pat Riley and Patrick Ewing had some good years, they could not get past Michael Jordan, who had a lock on the league in the ‘90’s.
James Dolan took over the Knicks in 1999 and not many good things have happened since then.
Well Monday night was pretty good.
New York was down to Philadelphia 100-96 with 27.1 to go when Jalen Brunson hit a three. Tyrese Maxey coughed the ball up on the in-bounds and then Donte Vincenzo missed a three. Isaiah Hartenstein got the rebound and chunked it back out to him and he hit the second with 15.1 left to put the Knicks up 101-99.
Hartenstein blocked Maxey’s subsequent drive then OG Anunoby went to the line for a pair of free throws which he hit.
Madison Square Garden is often called the World’s Greatest Arena by people who have never been to Cameron, but the basketball, at least from the Knicks, rarely lives up to that. On Monday night, at least at the end, it definitely did.
