Four Holy Names athletes make commitments official
ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) -- It was a special day at the Academy of the Holy Names: signing day. Four student athletes making their dreams of competing at the college level official.
Alexa Gross signed on to play softball at Bentley. She says there's a lot she'll take with her to the next level from her time at Holy Names. "It's not just about your athletic abilities, it's truly the person you are," said Gross. "I think that's what makes me stand out on the field. I'm a catcher, so being a leader is something that, you have to have those qualities. Coming from Holy Names, you're taught to be a leader on the field and in the classroom. So I've taken those traits and qualities and I've really put them forth on the field and at school."
Summer Reinhoehl will compete in track and field for Siena. "It feels so amazing," said Reinhoehl. "I feel so blessed to be here right now. I joined track and field just last year after ten years of soccer and so it's so crazy to me right now that I could actually commit at the collegiate level to be a track and field star. I feel so grateful for it."
Anna Nichols will play lacrosse and soccer at Emmanuel College. It meant a lot to have her family and friends by her side on signing day. "They're really supporting and it makes me really happy that they're all here with me," said Nichols. "I think it makes the experience that much better, having them here to support me do that."
Nicole Decker will play volleyball at DeSales University. "Both my older siblings played sports in college," said Decker. "You always look up to your older siblings. All my teammates just push me every single day, so I'm really grateful for it."
