‘This is peak Britishness’ say fans as viral video shows runner stopping every mile of London Marathon for glass of WINE
A LONDON Marathon runner has gone viral after stopping EVERY MILE for a GLASS OF WINE.
Completing 26.2 miles was a challenging enough task for most of the 53,000 people that lined up on the start line on Sunday.
But TikTok star Tom Gilbey, known for content about wine, opted to make it even more difficult for himself.
The Brit, who has 90,000 followers, set himself the goal of tasting 25 different wines, one per mile throughout the course.
And he even had to name each of the 25 different wines after having a quick sip of the glass.
In total, he got seven spot on, 14 largely correct and just four wrong.
But he was understandably looking rather worse for wear as the marathon wore on.
At the start, Tom could be seen having a swig of a glass of red wine while talking to the camera.
He said: “It is London Marathon day. We’re starting with a red. We’re doing 26 wines one per mile. Let’s go.”
That ended up turning into 25 wines, but it was still an astonishing feat as the social media star was filmed tiredly trying wines up until one mile to go.

He then crossed the line in an impressive time of four hours, 41 minutes and 12 seconds.
When he uploaded the two-and-a-half-minute video to TikTok, he added the caption: “AND WE’VE ONLY DONE A VIDEO…
“26.2 miles. 25 wines tasted blind. 7 fully correct, 4 wrong & 14 mostly right. Over £10k raised for @sobell.house

The video has gone viral and surpassed 250,000 likes on TikTok, with fans loving the clip as they pour in with their responses.
One said: “True legend. I’ve tried doing beers before. I made it about four before I was like I can run or drink but not both.”
Another added: “This is peak Britishness 
.”
A third replied: “This dude is a legend!”
A fourth said: “If he actually drank the entire glass at each mile and finished the race, I’m going to give serious props to this major athletic achievement.”
A fifth responded: “Now I would love to see the Glasgow equivalent.”
And a sixth added: “Now someone should run the Edinburgh Marathon and have a whiskey each mile.
“Then the Paris Marathon and Champagne. Moscow Marathon, vodka. Tokyo Marathon etc. I would pay to watch them all.”
