Troy accepting proposals for new city hall location
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- City leaders in Troy are asking for help with finding a permanent home for city hall. Officials announced a request for proposals on Monday.
They are asking real estate developers, commercial property owners, and other professionals to give input on a suitable location. The government has been leasing space on River Street for more than a decade after Monument Square was demolished.
The mayor said city hall should represent the best of Troy.
"There's nothing outside saying city hall," Mayor Carmella Mantello said. "There's no sense of being. No sense of pride. We're renting a floor. We want to bring back that pride."
The mayor said she does not plan on trying to construct a new building but would be open to renovating an existing one. Bids are due on June 28.
