‘Smells exactly like Jean Paul Gaultier’ says Amazon shoppers as £39 aftershave dupe is slashed to £27
SHOPPERS are racing to Amazon to get their hands on a bargain aftershave, which they say smells “exactly” like a pricey Jean Paul EDP.
Amazon has cut the price of Afnan 9PM EDP Spray from £38.99 to just £26.59 – and shoppers can’t help but liken it to a popular designer aftershave.

I spotted this deal while cruising through Amazon’s beauty bestsellers list, where it’s ranked as one of the site’s top-selling men’s aftershaves.
Over 1,000 shoppers have put this fragrance in their baskets in the past month alone, and it’s racked up an impressive rating of 4.4 out of five stars across 6000+ ratings.
As a rule, I tend to swerve cheap, knock-off fragrances. Often these formulas compromise on quality by using synthetic ingredients, meaning they smell cheap and don’t last long.
However, shoppers say otherwise with this aftershave, with one adding: “It lasts forever and the projection of the smell is next-level.”
The aftershave has top notes of apple and a base of vanilla and tonka bean, meaning it’ll strike a good balance between warming, creamy notes and a bit of zest.
Once only associated with the Nineties, vanilla fragrances have fallen under the radar in recent years.
However, they’ve since made a huge comeback, and searches for vanilla perfume are even up by 65% on beauty retailer LookFantastic.
Looking through this fragrance’s notes, I can see that there are some clear similarities between Afnan 9PM EDP and cult-classic Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male.
Both fragrances have woody, vanilla bases, and zesty, fruity top notes. But the biggest difference? Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male will set you back nearly £60.
Shoppers can’t help but notice the similarities too, and many think it’s a perfume dupe, with one saying: “It’s an exact 1 to 1 copy of Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male but at a fraction of the price.”
Another says: “As soon as I sprayed it both the wife and I turned to each other and said it smelled exactly like Jean Paul Gaultier.”
The shopper adds: “Unless you’re a real fragrance guru you won’t smell the difference… Fantastic alternative for the price, will definitely be buying in the future.”
Another shopper even likens Afnan 9PM EDP Spray to another premium perfume, which goes for over £100.
They say: “I confidently recommend this absolutely wonderful perfume and it is 99% similar to Armani Eau Du Nuit.”

I’m very impressed with this beauty deal, but there are plenty more bargains across the Amazon website.
