Recipients for 2024 Glenn Armentor Pay It Forward Scholarship Program announced
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)-- The Glenn Armentor Law Corporation announced the recipients for the 2024 Glenn Armentor Pay It Forward Scholarship Program.
The initiative annually awards full ride college scholarships to hardworking, at-risk high school students heading to college. Factors such homelessness, abuse and even the loss of parents, to name a few, are put into consideration when choosing recipients; but incredibly, they persevere and make the grades all while facing adversity most people never experience.
This year's recipients include:
- David Tran of Abbeville High
- Lola Bowen of Erath High
- Hermione Mayfield of Crowley High
- Emily Bourque of Acadiana High
Glenn Armentor said each year is challenging.
"It’s hard to do that because they're all winners, and it's just an amazing experience. Probably the best year that I had because they're so wonderful," Armentor said. "I love these kids. they will change the world. They're at risk, and yet they're academic marvels. And so, it's wonderful to have them. I honestly don't think we've had a better class.''
The students will be officially introduced at the upcoming annual pinning ceremony making them part of an elite class of the Glenn Armentor Pay It Forward Scholarship recipients.
News Ten anchor Darla Montgomery served on the scholarship judging committee and has done so each year since the inception of Armentor's Pay It Forward Scholarship Program back in 2009.
