My neighbour kept parking on MY land so I used £2.49 trick to stop him – he’s livid & now I’m worried I went too far
A FUMING neighbour resorted to a £2.49 hack to keep a man from parking on his property – but did he take it too far?
Many street rows are sparked when tensions between those who share boundary lines reach boiling point over car parking spaces.
A man took matters into his own hands after a neighbour blatantly stole his parking space[/caption]One resident hit his limit after another local brazenly stole his parking spot and refused to budge.
He took to Reddit to vent his frustrations – and questioned if he did the right thing.
It was my property that he just claimed as his, so I was p***ed

“On my street, we all have driveways for two cars and NO on-street parking,” wrote the homeowner.
“For some reason there was an error on my house deeds and I actually own some land big enough for a car to park in across the street just off the road.
“I literally never use it, but sometimes if more than two cars turn up to my house at any one time, which hardly ever happens, I tell one of them to park on my land across the street.
“Well, my neighbour has just taken in a tenant and he slipped a note through my door to say his tenant needed a place to park because he and his girlfriend were parking on his driveway.
“His note said he told his tenant to park on my land across the street, and he left his number so if it was ever in the way so I could call him to move it.”
He said he was “p***ed” that they had felt entitled to take the space without asking and said it would only be okay if they used it every now and then.
But, the frustrated motorist’s warning was to no avail and his neighbours parked in the spot every day.
“I bought a no parking sign and safety bollards and tape and taped off my land across the street so no one could park there,” he continued.
“Am I the a**hole? It was causing me no problems whatsoever him parking there, but it was my property that he just claimed as his, so I was p***ed and now my land is just empty every day while he and his girlfriend and his tenant struggle to park every day.”
One person who agreed commented: “He didn’t ask he told you what he did. It isn’t hard to ask for someone’s permission for something.”
Another added: “It was incredibly presumptuous of him to offer up your property. Perhaps if you don’t really need the space you can rent it out to them (but I’d strongly advise a month-to-month lease).”
“It is your property. If they, their visitors, or their property get damaged, you are liable,” wrote a third.
Homeowners dealing with similar parking issues who wish to tape off their invaded space can nab 100meters of the sticky stuff from Amazon for just £2.49.
It can be used to cordon off hazardous areas, roadworks, outdoor, construction sites and create clear boundaries.
YOUR RIGHTS
What are your rights if somone is repeatedly blocking access with their vehicle?
- You should always try and approach your neighbour in a calm manner first.
- You can leave a note should you not be able to speak to them directly.
- If a neighbour is parked on your driveway and this is part of your land, they are technically trespassing.
- It is considered a criminal offence but there is no criminal law preventing someone from parking on your driveway.
- Do not try and move the vehicle yourself because you will be responsible for any damages and have to pay for repairs
- The courts have the jurisdiction to remove a car from the driveway for you if you choose to pursue a civil case for trespassing.
This comes after another resident who was fed up with her neighbour’s cars blocking her driveway towed away their motor.
The woman explained the large family next door own five to six cars between them – and regularly leave them parked across access to her drive.
Meanwhile, one driver’s neighbours kept stealing their parking spot – so they came up with a drastic solution – but it only cost £0.13p.
The student, who lived in a rented off-campus apartment, took to Reddit to explain the guerrilla warfare.
Elsewhere, a homeowner revealed the genius way she got revenge on a “neighbour from hell” who harassed her family over a silly parking row.
The bitter feud came to a head after the man next door called the cops on them for parking “backwards”.
