Participating lineup for Averill Park Restaurant Week
Averill Park restaurant is already underway and runs until Sunday, April 21. Some restaurants in the Averill Park area are serving up special menus for lunch and dinner.
Simone’s Kitchen celebrating reopening in Coxsackie
After a two-year closure due to renovations, Simone’s Kitchen is set to reopen its original location in Coxsackie at 18 Hope Plaza with a community celebration. The grand reopening is set for Wednesday, April 17.
Watervliet restaurant opening new location in Albany
The Black Bear Inn, located at 310 19th Street in Watervliet, is opening a second location in Albany. The new restaurant will be in the former Fredella’s Sports Bar & Restaurant space inside Capital OTB’s Clubhouse Racebook at 711 Central Avenue.
Brooklyn-based butcher shop expands to Hudson
The Meat Hook, a butcher shop with two locations in Brooklyn, has opened a third location in Hudson. The shop officially opened on Saturday, April 13.
Mission BBQ opens in Colonie
Mission BBQ, a national chain that supports military members, police officers, firefighters, and first responders, has opened in Colonie’s Northway Mall. According to Olshan Properties, Mission BBQ opened on Tuesday, April 16.
Ben & Jerry’s in Albany celebrates annual Free Cone Day
A local ice cream shop offered free cones on Tuesday. Ben & Jerry’s on Madison Avenue participated in the company’s Free Cone Day.
Pizza Wars fundraiser benefits Hope 7 Community Center
The first ever Pizza Wars fundraiser for the Hope 7 Community Center drew a hungry crowd to the American Legion in Wynantskill on Tuesday. Rensselaer County restaurants and beyond served up all sorts of tasty slices for the judges, including NEWS10’s Lydia Kulbida.
Bear Butter opens shop in Great Barrington
Just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Jonathan Vella was trying to make energy balls at his business, The Spot in Pittsfield, when he ended up creating Bear Butter. He then jarred the mixture and the Bear Butter business took off from there.

Glens Falls Wings Fest is set for Saturday, April 27 from noon to 3 p.m. The event features local restaurants competing to see who has the best chicken wings.
African restaurant moving from the Berkshires to Troy
House of Seasoning Grill permanently closed its doors in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on March 15. Now, the African-American restaurant is set to open in the former Muddaddy Flats space at 49 3rd Street in Troy.
Scratch Kitchen set to open in Glens Falls
Denver Semon has worked as a chef for over 20 years, mainly in fine dining and dinner service. Now, she’s opening up Scratch Kitchen, a cafe and bakery at 199 Warren Street in Glens Falls.
Glens Falls cafe, gift shop closing after 10 years
Juicin’ Jar, located at 16 Exchange Street in Glens Falls, is closing its doors. Owner Cristina Hanchett and manager Nicole Laubenheimer made the announcement on Facebook on April 15.
Owner of Colonie restaurant destroyed in fire looking for temporary location
The owner of a restaurant that was destroyed in a fire and explosion on April 4 is trying to figure out her next steps. The owner of Pad Thai Noodle on Everett Road in Colonie told NEWS10 she is looking for a temporary space to reopen the restaurant while the current location is rebuilt.
Bakery opening up storefront in Johnstown
Marissa Miller started Marissa Mae’s Confections as at at-home bakery two years ago after she graduated from SUNY Delhi. Now, she’s opening up a storefront at 16 South Perry Street in Johnstown.
Mother’s Day restaurant specials in the Capital Region
Mother’s Day is quickly approaching on Sunday, May 12. Many restaurants in the Capital Region will be open and serving specials to celebrate the day.
