1. Rotterdam mom, boyfriend, charged in death of disabled daughter
A Schenectady County grand jury has indicted Skylar Pettit’s mother, Amber Geier, 54, on nine charges including manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and concealment of a human corpse. Geier’s boyfriend, Ricky Loika, 52, was also indicted on six related charges including animal cruelty for the mistreatment of four mastiff dogs.
2. Deputies: Utility worker electrocuted in Berne
A utility worker was electrocuted while working on a utility pole in Berne early Friday morning. The Albany County Sheriff’s Office says the worker died on the scene, and their name has not been released at this time.
3. Former Shenanigan’s GM to remain in jail
Luiggi Canessa’s federal detention hearing wrapped on Thursday. Judge Christian Hummel decided he should remain in detention in Albany County Jail to ensure he returns to court.
4. Owner of Colonie restaurant destroyed in fire looking for temporary location
The owner of a restaurant that was destroyed in a fire and explosion on April 4 is trying to figure out her next steps. The owner of Pad Thai Noodle on Everett Road in Colonie told NEWS10 she is looking for a temporary space to reopen the restaurant while the current location is rebuilt.
