Bakery opening up storefront in Johnstown
JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Marissa Miller started Marissa Mae's Confections as at at-home bakery two years ago after she graduated from SUNY Delhi. Now, she's opening up a storefront at 16 South Perry Street in Johnstown.
"My business is just myself, so it’s been a long haul but I’m so grateful for the community’s support," Miller told NEWS10. "The Fulton County Center for Regional Growth awarded me with their Microenterprise grant, which has helped tremendously."
Marissa Mae's Confections storefront will be selling French macarons (Miller's specialty), cinnamon rolls, babka, bagels, bread, and more. Miller said she's also testing out some gluten-free recipes.
As an at-home bakery, Miller has been taking custom orders. With the storefront opening, she'll continue to take custom orders and she currently has six weddings scheduled for this year.
Miller is hoping to open the storefront in early June. She hasn't finalized the hours yet, but she's thinking Marissa Mae's Confections will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
