Police investigating suspicious death on Mohawk Hudson Bike Trail
MENANDS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State police announced they are investigating a suspicious death in Menands alongside the Menands Police Department. The incident occurred at the Mohawk Hudson Bike Trail on April 18.
On Thursday at 3:55 p.m., Menands Police and emergency services responded to the bike trail for the report of an injured hiker who was unresponsive. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a local 76-year-old man, who medical personnel attempted to tend to, but the man succumbed to his injuries on the scene.
Troopers were then called in due to the nature of the victim's injuries, and state police are now leading the investigation with the support of Menands Police. Anyone who may have been in the area during the day on April 18 is asked to call police at (518)457-9528 or email crimetip@troopers.ny.gov.
State police say that anyone near the bike trail is advised to utilize caution at this time. A police presence can be expected in the area and trail closures may be put in place while the investigation is underway.
