Timberline closed Friday after fire at historic lodge
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Timberline is closed Friday after a fire in the historic lodge's attic Thursday night.
According to officials, the first reports of the fire came in around 9:30, calling several fire crews to the scene.
Everyone evacuated safely, and the fire was out by just before 11:30, however, the cause of the fire remains unknown, officials said.
Early Friday morning it was announced that the lodge and ski area will be closed on Friday while the damage is assessed.
Pictures released by Clackamas County Fire show crews battling the blaze from the outside of the building and firefighters inside the historic lodge.
Investigators from both the U.S. Forest Service and the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responded to the scene.
