I once lost an entire drawer of cashmere to clothes moths – now I know what kills them for good & it only costs £10
CLOTHES MOTHS can be frustrating to deal with, especially if you have a well stocked wardrobe filled with items you just couldn’t part with.
Imagine the horror of waking up to find moths have feasted on your expensive cashmere shirts.
Moths have been the bane of her life and now she knows the right product that works to stop an infestation for good[/caption]That’s exactly what happened to Ann Russell and she shared her frustrations with her 2.5M followers on TikTok.
In her clip shared on her TikTok Ann responds to a question left for her by a commenter and it’s the question we are all wanting to know: “Do you have any tips on how to get rid of clothes moths?”
The ‘English cleaning lady’ as she describes herself, looks rather upset as she remembers the time she discovered that moths had eaten through an entire drawer of her cashmere clothes and she states, “I don’t take chances now” as she goes on to share some of the best products to avoid anyone going through the same ordeal.
“I gave up with everything, except I use Zero In moth stuff and I’ve just ordered myself another bag of their moth balls.
“The brand called Zero In make mothballs and pellets. Whilst I don’t like insecticides out in the world…when it comes to clothes moths I don’t care.
“once lost an entire drawer, a big drawer of cashmere – I don’t take chances now.
“Everything is layered with Zero In moth balls now and I use the spray. I don’t use any herbal remedies like lavender, I go with these moth balls because they do work.
“Since I’ve been using them I haven’t had a single moth hole,” she declares.
As we know moths won’t discriminate between your sunday best and an old pair of leggings – they’ll eat their way through any fabric so it pays to know how to avoid an infestation.
Going by Ann’s recommendation, a pack that includes 30 powerful moth balls would only cost just over a tenner on Amazon UK.
You can also purchase the Zero In aerosol spray and a pack of moth for £13.40 with Amazon’s latest bundle deal.
One commenter wrote: “Amazing, I will give it a go.”
Another asked if it would work for carpet beetles saying: “..I’ve tried insecticides and hoovering, I’m desperate.”
HOW TO PREVENT MOTHS
Use fly screens – draw curtains at night to prevent moths entering your home through doors and windows.
Vacuum regularly – ensure hidden areas such as under large furniture or sofas are regularly vacuumed, to try and remove moth eggs before they hatch
Keep stored textiles in sealed bags – if you plan to store textiles for a long period of time, keep them in sealed plastic bags or suitcases to prevent moth’s access to lay eggs
Clean clothes – moths are attracted to dirty or soiled garments, so always clean clothes thoroughly before storing them
