Loan Watch: March Round-Up

Josh O’Connor, Murray Aiken & Kanayo Megwa (Airdrieonians)
The Hibs trio of Josh O’Connor, Murray Aiken and Kanayo Megwa are chasing a historic season for Airdrieonians.
Airdrieonians lifted the SPFL Trust Trophy for the first time in 15 years last month, with Josh O’Connor winning the penalty for the crucial winning goal in a 2-1 victory over The New Saints.
Since then, Airdrieonians have won four of their last five league matches and their attention now turns to achieving promotion to the cinch Premiership via the play-offs.
Both Josh O’Connor and Kanayo Megwa have featured regularly for Rhys McCabe’s side, whilst Murray Aiken is working his way back from an injury that has kept him out since October 2023.
Ewan Henderson (KV Oostende)
Creative midfielder, Ewan Henderson, has benefitted from regular game-time out in Belgium – featuring 29 times in all competitions and scoring seven times.
During his time with the Club, Hendo also helped the second-tier side reach the semi-finals of the Belgian Cup – scoring three times on the cup run.
KV Oostende play their final game of their regular season on Friday evening (19 April).
Harry McKirdy (Swindon Town)
Harry McKirdy has continued his gradual return to the pitch at Swindon Town. The forward missed the whole of the first half of the season at Hibs, before joining the League Two side in January on loan.
Harry has scored one goal in 10 games for Swindon – helping ‘The Robins’ all but secure their safety in the Football League with two games to go.
Nohan Kenneh (Shrewsbury Town)
During the 2023/24 campaign, Kenneh has played 33 times for Shrewsbury Town – adding three goal contributions from defensive midfield.
The Salop have secured their safety in League One, and currently sit 18th in League One with two games to go.
Max Boruc (Arbroath)
Max Boruc has benefitted from playing regular senior football at Arbroath in the Scottish Championship.
The shot-stopper has played 10 times since joining in January, in what has been a disappointing season for Arbroath who have been relegated.
Riley Harbottle (Colchester United)
Riley has played nine times for Colchester United since he joined the English League Two side on loan in January – keeping two clean sheets in that period.
Colchester United have won their last two consecutive matches and are fighting for their lives at the bottom of League Two.
They currently sit 22nd, two points adrift of safety with three games to play.
Dan MacKay (Livingston)
After a brief period on the sidelines over Christmas, Dan MacKay has enjoyed a return to First Team football since the turn of the year.
Dan has played 25 times for Livingston – scoring three times and adding two assists.
The 22-year-old continued his habit of scoring goals in the Scottish Cup – finding the back of the net against Celtic in a 4-2 defeat at Parkhead last month.
Allan Delferrière (MFK Vyškov)
The Czech football season has restarted for Allan Delferrière at MFK Vyškov.
The midfielder has played six times so far in the FNL league, contributing one assist for the second-tier side who currently sit second in the table – two points off top spot.
Scottish League One
Dylan Tait’s January switch from Hamilton Academical to Falkirk paid off, helping The Bairns achieve promotion to the Scottish Championship! The creative midfielder has featured 12 times for Falkirk since the turn of the year, scoring twice and adding one assist.
John McGlynn’s side won the League One title at a canter in the end – and will return to the Championship for the first time in five years.
Elsewhere in Scottish League One, Kyle McClelland has continued to play week-in-week-out for Queen of the South. The centre-back has featured 34 times for The Doonhamers who currently sit mid-table.
Oscar MacIntyre spent the first-half of the season at Queen of the South before switching to Annan Athletic in January. The left-back has been a regular for Annan since he joined, playing the full 90 minutes in eight matches – and contributing one assist.
Annan currently sit eighth – joint on points with Stirling Albion, where fellow youngster Rudi Molotnikov has been playing on loan. Rudi has featured five times since he joined at the start of March, featuring predominantly as a second-striker.
Reuben McAllister is also continuing his development in the Scottish third tier. The 17-year-old midfielder has played nine times for Kelty Hearts, who have won four of their last five games and are chasing a play-off spot!
Finally, Malik Zaid has got his first taste of senior professional football at Edinburgh City.
The capital side have struggled this season and will be relegated from Scottish League One, however the experience has been beneficial for Malik who has two goal contributions in 14 games.
Scottish League Two
In Scottish League Two, Jacob Blaney joined fellow team-mate Robbie Hamilton on loan at East Fife for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign.
Jacob has played six times, whilst Robbie has played in nine matches – registering two assists.
East Fife have an outside chance at finishing in the Play-Off spots with three games remaining.
