Suicide bomb targets Japanese nationals’ vehicle in Karachi, Pakistan
A suicide blast in Karachi, Pakistan, claimed the lives of two individuals on Friday. The attack targeted a vehicle carrying foreign nationals, according to reports from broadcaster Geo News.
Despite the deadly attack in Karachi, all five foreigners traveling in the targeted vehicle managed to survive, as reported. The swift response from law enforcement resulted in the death of the suicide bomber and two other terrorists in retaliatory gunfire.
According to a report by news agency Reuters, terrorists aiming to destabilize the government and establish a stringent Islamic regime have orchestrated some of Pakistan’s deadliest assaults in recent years. Foreign nationals, including Chinese citizens, have often been among their targets, reflecting the indiscriminate and ruthless nature of these attacks.
Japanese survivors of the attack in Karachi have been relocated to a secure location under police custody, according to Abrar Hussain Baloch, a police spokesperson. Despite the incident, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the assault, leaving the motive behind the attack unclear.
Karachi Police confirmed the nature of the attack as a suicide bombing. Additionally, Geo News reported that another vehicle suffered damage in the explosion, further indicating the severity of the incident.
According to initial police reports, the second terrorist killed in the encounter was identified as another suicide bomber. Authorities stated that the terrorist had a suicide jacket and a grenade attached to their body, highlighting the potentially catastrophic nature of the attack. Additionally, a bomb disposal team is en route to the site to ensure the area’s safety and disarm any remaining threats.
The law enforcement agency disclosed that the foreign nationals targeted in the attack were employed in the export processing zone, providing insight into their professional background and potential motives behind the assault.
