Students get hands-on experience in clean energy field
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The next generation of the clean energy workforce is getting some hands on experience at Albany High School. The New York Power Authority donated a retired hybrid vehicle to the school's automotive maintenance and repair program.
Students will get the chance to work on the car and learn more about the growing electric vehicle industry as well as clean energy.
"The world keeps changing, and these electric cars, they can cut down on emissions. These cars are a lot of work, but these batteries, they are the future," Albany High School senior Simon Carrey said.
The course is part of Albany's Careers and Technical Education program. Students can also sign up for classes in construction, cosmetology and culinary sciences.
