Man arrested in connection with shooting incident at EV station behind East Hartford bank
A man is facing multiple charges following a shooting incident at an electric vehicle charging station behind an East Hartford bank in January, police said.
On Jan. 20, officers responded to multiple calls reporting shots fired in a parking lot behind the Bank of America at 805 Main St., according to Officer Marc Caruso of the East Hartford Police Department.
As officers arrived, they located an uninjured victim and a 2023 Kia sedan that had sustained damage from gunfire, Caruso said.
The victim told officers he was pulling into an EV charging port station “when confusion arose with another motorist operating a gray sedan.” Believing he was being signaled, the victim said he proceeded to park his vehicle, according to Caruso.
Moments later, the victim alleged that the driver of the other sedan drove out of the rear lot onto Garvan Street, fired multiple rounds toward his Kia and drove off, Caruso said.
Investigators quickly identified the suspect as 33-year-old Christon Jackson and an arrest warrant was obtained, according to Caruso. Jackson was taken into custody on April 12 and charged with first-degree criminal attempt assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm and third-degree criminal mischief, Caruso said.
Jackson was being held on a court-set $100,000 bond, according to Caruso.
“The East Hartford Police Department commends the diligent efforts of its officers and investigators in swiftly resolving this case. The safety and security of our community remain our top priority,” Caruso said.
