MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) -- On April 16, 2024, officers of the Monroe Police Department began a juvenile sex crime investigation at a home on Lee Avenue. During the investigation, authorities made contact with the 7-year-old victim at an emergency room where the victim was receiving medical evaluation.
According to court documents, officials learned that 50-year-old Ronald Davis allegedly committed sexual battery on the victim at the residence and he resides at the home with the victim, a 4-year-old juvenile, Erica Spearman, and Spearman's significant other. Spearman allegedly advised officials that the victim was seen exiting Davis's bedroom and fixing their pants. According to Spearman, the victim appeared to be "shaken" by the incident.
Spearman then advised officials that the victim mentioned that Davis allegedly dragged the victim to his bedroom and touched the victim inappropriately. The alleged incident occurred on April 14, 2024, according to court documents.
The victim's paternal family arrived at the residence and told Spearman that if the victim did not receive medical attention, the victim would be taken away. The victim was then transported to the hospital by Spearman and the victim's aunt.
After Spearman spoke with authorities, she allegedly returned to her home and went to a family member's residence 30 minutes later. According to court documents, Spearman knew that officials planned to contact her at her home to gain more information for the investigation. Officials learned Spearman purposely did not stay at her residence because she thought she would be in trouble.
Authorities obtained a search warrant for her residence and multiple pieces of evidentiary items were collected. Spearman was located on North 21st Street and she was advised of her Miranda Rights.
According to court documents, Spearman admitted that the victim was allegedly sexually assaulted by Davis on two occasions and at two residential addresses over the last several months. The victim told Spearman about the assaults; however, she did not report the incidents to authorities.
Authorities learned that Davis allegedly gave the victim money for school snacks, and Spearman did not report Davis to the police because he provided multiple services at the residence that included childcare and housekeeping.
